Every NRI must contribute to India's development
Committee

I am very happy that the Indian government is taking steps to tie a knot between Resident and Non-Resident Indians. I feel it is a moral responsibility of every NRI to contribute in some way or the other to the development of the Motherland. In fact, I feel that NRIs have what India needs: money.

However when people want to contribute funds, they wonder if the money will be in safe hands. They are anxious to know if the money will reach the right people. Their suspicion persists because of the level of corruption that prevails back home in India.

What India needs most right now. - I think - is a very strong infrastructure. And to build this, it needs the right amount of money in the hands of the right kind of people. If this happens, India knows no bounds to self-development.

I very strongly feel that India has always ignored development in the rural areas. Since 80% of the population is dependent on agriculture...I don't understand how could we have overlooked this fact since Independence. Sure Industrial development had its own benefits.. but I think this led to nothing but overcrowding of the cities. India has become self sufficient as far as food goes... however... it is not enough. We are not supposed to stop there.

There has to be a very strong and reliable infrastructure to provide for :

Or are we going to wait till America does it!

There are so many areas that are just neglected. Sports for example. India should be ashamed of the fact in spite of the largest population - India just somehow managed to get ONE bronze medal in Olympics. Why?

The main problem is Infrastructure. Good roads, good systems of governance. We like it here in foreign lands because the everyday life is so simple. We don't have to worry about pollution, about paying bills, about corruption among the traffic police.

Frankly, I think India is not poor at all. The money is just in the wrong hands.

I don't understand why the traffic police and other police are not paid enough. Why are not they satisfied with what salaries they earn.

Why are people so irresponsible towards their duties are a citizen? It is mostly because people have lost the trust on the system. And to win it back a lot of work needs to be done.

There must be tons of people all around the world that are very willing to help if it is guaranteed that the efforts are used for the right purposes. May be there should be a website to express our concerns and to bring all the people who are willing to help and not lost hope, under one roof. And then we can start contributing the various ways that each one of specializes in.

I am sure what I have said is not new. However, if it is not new why hasn't anything been done yet. Why are people afraid to come forward to start a new revolution? It is because of the fact that they are afraid...afraid of corruption and just wasting their time.
